Once a GASSie, Always a GASSie
GASS is a youth organization that has built a strong network of over 1500 German and Australian scholarship winners. With branches in Australia and Germany, and members based all around the world, we are truly a global family.
As an alumni association, we aim to give back and ensure future students can receive the same life-changing opportunities we did. Scholarship recipients continue to benefit from the exchange opportunity for many years by being members of a thriving society built around a family of people with shared experiences and values.
From Victoria alone, around 600 young people have enjoyed this adventure since Fritz von Einem Joosten founded the Society and the first students went in 1968. Some SAGSE scholarship recipients go on to use German very directly, whilst for others the benefit is less direct but nonetheless very real.

The Alumni Network
Through donations and ongoing involvement, SAGSE alumni have funded additional scholarships every year since 2010. The alumni mailing list connects GASSies across generations, creating a community that gives back to ensure future students can share this formative experience.
With the cooperation of the Australian German Association Inc. (AGA), we continue to locate and connect with alumni, creating a more active and dynamic community with strong links into the German-Australian business world.
